The Puerto Rican Superstar Responds to Kristi Noem's ICE Threats Before Super Bowl Performance
During his first speech as host of the first episode of Saturday Night Live, Bad Bunny addressed recent statements made by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem regarding his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
The 31-year-old Latin music icon quipped that "all people" was pleased about his scheduled performance, "including Fox News."
“It’s good to be back. This is my second time hosting and my fourth time being here,” he said. “I’ll be performing at the Super Bowl halftime. I’m thrilled, and I believe everyone else is too.”
A short video clip came after featuring commentators from the network seeming to endorse the artist for president.
An Important Statement for the Latino Community
In his opening remarks, the musician switched to Spanish to address "all the Latinos and Latinas in the entire world and here in the United States."
He expressed that his Super Bowl selection was not just a personal achievement but an accomplishment for the entire community, showing that the Latino contribution to this country will never be erased.
Then, switching to English, he added, "For those who didn’t catch that, you’ve got a few months to pick up some Spanish."
Political Criticism and Official Warnings
News of Bad Bunny’s halftime show caused anger among right-wing commentators, particularly from the Homeland Security Secretary.
On a recent podcast, she stated that only Americans should attend the upcoming game and cautioned that ICE agents "will be all over" the stadium.
She also claimed the NFL would "regret its decision" for selecting Bad Bunny.
Tour Omission and Live Shows
Earlier, Bad Bunny explained that fears of ICE raids at his live events resulted in him leaving out the U.S. from his forthcoming world tour.
He just wrapped a lengthy performance run in his home territory, which allegedly drew hundreds of thousands of attendees.
"My residence was beautiful, everyone loved it," he said during his SNL monologue.
SNL Sketches and Topical Humor
During additional segments of the season opener, cast member Colin Jost portrayed former Fox News host Pete Hegseth.
That segment featured a tirade about the U.S. military, sarcastically echoing Hegseth’s prior comments about inclusion and body-shaming within the military.
Additionally, Trump impersonator a cast member appeared briefly as a "self-appointed monitor" of the show, saying he was there to ensure "SNL doesn’t cross the line with jokes about me."
